DOREEN JOY McGAW (published on March 11, 2010)

DOREEN JOY McGAW (nee ULRICH) It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Doreen Joy McGaw, peacefully and with her family by her side, on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, MB at the age of 71 years. Doreen will be sadly missed by her adoring husband Roy; daughters Tannis Asselin (Paul), Kathleen Cook (Lawrence), Colleen Blacker (Robert); sons Larry (Lorraine) and Lindsay (Danielle), as well as her grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her brother Bud (Diane); sisters Dale (John) and Tawny (Jim); cousin Lynne (Ron), and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Tillie Ulrich, and infant sister Carol Lynne. Born July 8, 1938, Doreen loved travelling with her husband, and cherished her grandchildren. At Doreen's request, a private family service will take place. Doreen welcomed the serenity of her Lord calling her home. The family wishes to thank Dr. Russell Albak along with staff at Prime, as well as the third floor doctors and staff at the Grace Hospital. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Doreen's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or Canadian Diabetes Association, 200 - 310 Broadway Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6. Do not stand at my grave and weep Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there. I did not die.
