JOHN BOAG (published on March 11, 2010)

JOHN BOAG We regret to announce the death of John Boag on Friday, March 5, 2010 with his wife Sophie at his side. Born on April 22, 1922, John grew up in Winnipeg. John became deaf at a young age, but that did not stop him from enjoying the company of others. Even those who didn't know Sign Language could communicate with John. He married Sophie in November 1973, and they shared a life in Winnipeg. John worked as a Radiator Mechanic until he retired in 1987. John was a joy to be around, and was famous for his teasing and his ever-present smile. Even at the last, the nurses and doctors at the Grace Hospital enjoyed being around John. He will be greatly missed. Besides his beloved wife Sophie, he leaves to mourn his brothers Henry (Delores) and Art (Claire) as well as his nieces Arliss, Marla, Shauna and Linell and their families, along with many friends. He was predeceased by his parents, George in 1985 and Henrietta in 1944. As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, John had a bright hope for the future. We look forward along with him to meet again on the Paradise earth when he is resurrected (John 5:28,29), and to hear him say the things he's been signing all these years. (Isa 35:5) Interment to be held at Brookside Cemetery on Friday, March 12 at 3:00 p.m. Funeral services to be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 1060 Wolever Ave. (West side) with Tony Markham officiating.
