ESTHER LILY WELLING (published on March 13, 2010)

ESTHER LILY WELLING (nee BOLLARD) Suddenly on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 Esther passed away with her family by her side at Victoria General Hospital. Remaining to forever cherish mom are her twin sister, Dorothy and many relatives in England, six children: Tony (Debbie), Rosemary (John), Margaret (Norman), Valerie, Heather (Dave), Brian (Helen); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Many people Esther knew thought of her as Mom and Grandma GG. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years of marriage on March 17, 2009. Esther was born on March 15, 1921 in Croft, Leicestershire, England. She met a Canadian soldier named Doug, her soulmate. They were married in England July 3, 1943. She came to Canada as a war-bride in 1950 and raised their six children in St. Vital. Mom was active until her passing; she loved to play bingo and will be missed by her bingo buddies. She loved watching sports, especially wrestling. Mom spent many hours knitting for her family and friends. Esther would often give little gifts of homemade scarves and dishcloths. One of her favourite things to do was to sit in the sun and watch airplanes fly over. No one could have asked for a more wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. No words can express how much we love you. They say angels walk among us , to us we knew we had an angel here on earth. Esther's Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 2:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Memories, in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue. Our family would like to express our sincere and special thank you to Dr. B. Shah and the Emergency Staff at Victoria General Hospital. In memory of Mom, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald Street, Suite 200, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6, or the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3. Grandma GG, we love you and will miss you
