VERONICA FOSTER (published on March 13, 2010)

VERONICA FOSTER 1940 - 2010 Veronica Foster, aged 69 years, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 in the palliative care room at the Arborg General Hospital, after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Miami, MB, Veronica was the youngest of seven children. She moved to Winnipeg to attend what is now the University of Winnipeg, taught for several years, then worked for IBM, before marrying and moving to Arborg, MB. Here, Veronica farmed with her husbands, and enjoyed being a member of the community, surrounded by loving family and friends. She was predeceased by her great loves, her late husband Ray Foster, and her first husband Neil Winther. She was also predeceased by her parents, John and Bessie Richtik; her sisters, Margaret Thompson and Florence Brooks; her brothers, Frank Richtik, Walter Richtik and just last year, Jack Richtik. The recent passing of her nephew, Archie's wife, Pat, and brother David, were sad losses for her as well. Left to mourn Veronica's passing are her daughter, son-in-law and family, Rose-Mary and David Edwards and family; her brother James (Pat) Richtik; step-brother Larry (Shirley) Brown; sister-in-law Darlene Richtik; brothers-in-law, Alfred Thompson and John Brooks; nieces and nephews, Archie (Les Coolidge) Thompson, Brad Brooks, Curtis (Donna) Richtik, Linda (Gary) Haddad, Glen Richtik, Keith (Michele) Richtik, Steven Richtik, Katherine Richtik and their families. Also left to mourn are the many family and friends who have cherished Veronica's company over the years, whether it be on the dance floor, at a fiddle fest, curling, receiving a massage or reflexology treatment to keep everyone as active as she was...or just having her drop over for a visit, no matter which province you lived in...she will be missed. A memorial service will be held at a later date, Saturday, June 5, 2010. A notice will be circulated mid-May as a reminder of the date, and with exact details of the time and location. The family would like to thank the Arborg Hospital staff, nurses and doctors, for their care and consideration during Veronica's final days...and to the many friends and family who made the days more bearable for her with your visits, stories, jokes and outpouring of love...THANK YOU! In lieu of flowers, donations in Veronica's name may be made to either, the Arborg and District Health Centre, P.O. Box 10, Arborg, MB R0C 0A0 or to Hospice and Palliative Care Manitoba, 2109 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3. Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
