| HORST SIEGFRIED ADOLF BLOCK Horst passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the Concordia Hospital at the age of 76 years. Horst was predeceased by his son Greg in 2008, grandson Jason Nowakowski in 1995, two sisters Manuela and Heidi, a brother and sister in childhood, as well as his parents Adolf and Olga. He is survived by his daughters Wendy (Ken) Nowakowski and Jody Block, grandchildren Jennifer (Scott) Williamson, Jordan Nowakowski, Zachary Block and Greg's son Marshall Block. Remaining to cherish his memory is his sister Ruth Penzel in Germany, his nephews Bernie (Susan), Ron (Kathy), Ed (Barb) and Gary, extended family and friends. Horst was born on July 1, 1933 in Weisenberg, Germany. In 1950, Horst, his parents and sister Manuela immigrated to Canada from Germany. Being a hard worker, Horst started his career working for Scott Bathgate where he met and married Jeanette. He also worked for Winnipeg Transit and drove city school buses. Horst enjoyed entertaining people with a good story and joke. He, his wife and family ventured into the Hotel business in Saskatchewan for a number of years. Upon returning to Winnipeg, Horst returned to Winnipeg Transit until his retirement. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 19, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. in the Mosaic Funeral Chapel, 1839 Inkster Blvd. Cremation has taken place as per Horst's wishes and interment will be held at a later date. Special thanks to the staff at Concordia Hospital who helped Horst throughout his illness.
