| ERIKA FRIEDA SCALETTA Peacefully on March 6, 2010 just days after her 89th birthday, Erika left us to be with her late husband Joe of 41 years. When her Joe died, a part of her died too. She missed him greatly. Erika came to Canada from Germany as a young woman and worked until retirement as a nurse at the St. Boniface Hospital. In her spare time, she gardened and spent tireless hours creating beautiful and priceless needlework. Left to mourn is her step family, son Ignazio (Leslie), daughter Josie in Sicily (Antonio); grandchildren: Daniel (Julia), Claudia (John) and Loredana (Alberto). The brightness in her life became her great-granddaughter Diana Corona, who never failed to bring a smile to her face. They created a wonderful bond these past two years. Thanks is given to the staff at Tuxedo Villa for the kindness and care given to Erika. A private funeral service has been held and entombment followed in the family crypt at Assumption Mausoleum.
