ANN KOSLOVSKY (published on March 20, 2010)

ANN KOSLOVSKY It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Ann Koslovsky on February 23, 2010. Ann was predeceased by her parents Aaron and Fanny Gertenstein and by her husband Nathan Koslovsky. She is survived by her children Gwen (Harvey Zabenskie), Mark and Sheldon (Gail), her grandchildren Elisa, Pam and Aaron and her great-granddaughter Nariah. Her sisters Ethel Freed, Ruth Kagan, Hilda Klunner and brother Albert Gertenstein. Ann was always an independent person. While as a teenager with her family in Winnipeg, Ann remained in Montreal to be a career girl . Though she never saw herself married with children, meeting the love of her life, Nathan at a wedding changed everything. Moving back to Winnipeg, she became a wife and raised a family all while continuing to work in the clothing industry first with Mischa Pollaack and later selling women's clothing at Ricki's and Irene Hill. Fashion was always very important in her life. She had impeccable taste and shared it with others. She loved her customers and they loved Ann K . Family was the most important thing to Ann. She loved to hear about the many accomplishments of her children and grandchildren and was eager to share this news with all. She kept a spotless home, cleaning the house was not just a chore but a job she feverishly performed on a daily basis. Ann was an excellent cook and holidays were made that much more special because of her dishes. Once retired from work, Ann took on a new hobby of gambling. How she loved playing the slot machines. Though she lost more than she won, on any given Saturday, you can find Ann and her sister Ethel at the casino. She was looking forward to spending her summers at the cottage and planning her winters in Phoenix to be close to her granddaughter Elisa. She was a matriarch of a close knit family that is now simply lost without her. She will be missed and never forgotten. The funeral was held on February 26, 2010 at the Etz Chaim Synagogue with burial at the B'nai Abraham Cemetery. Pallbearers were Brain and Brent Gertenstein, Amos Chwaiewsky, Brandt Lewis, Dave Guttman, Randy Zimmerman, Norman Glass, Joey Berman. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to all their family and friends for their kind expressions of sympathy, donations, meals and support in our time of sorrow. Your friendship has given our family comfort during this sad time!
