PATRICIA FORREST (published on March 20, 2010)

PATRICIA FORREST With great sadness, we announce that Patricia passed away suddenly on March 15, 2010 at the age of 73. In life, Pat enjoyed a wealth of family and friends. She was dearly loved and will be remembered with tremendous fondness by us all. She was a wonderful, warm, generous, curious, interested and interesting person. Pat was the beloved daughter (and eldest of four) of the late Edward and Jean Forrest of Winnipeg, where she spent much of her life. Formerly married to Stan Wylynko, Pat leaves her sons Bradley (wife Sally and children Ella, Nicholas and Miles), Brian (wife Laurel and children Benjamin, Daniel and Samuel) and David (wife Raquel and children Taras and Afton). Pat is predeceased by her dear brother Jack Forrest and will be much missed by younger sisters Phyllis Will and Judy Forrest and sister-in-law Jill Forrest and their families, as well as the extended family and many close friends. She will be especially missed by her surrogate daughters, Laurie, Nancy and Barbara Elias and by her childhood friends Karen Wokes and Maida Neilson. A graduate of the University of Manitoba, Pat spent her adult career working tirelessly for issues important to women and children, first as a coordinator at the Y.W.C.A. and later as Executive Director of Knox Day Nursery. Pat spearheaded the creation of a brand new multi-purpose facility for the nursery in downtown Winnipeg. She enjoyed traveling, and was fond of reading, the outdoors, current affairs and world events, and spending time with her grandchildren. Friends are welcome to join with family in remembering Patricia on Tuesday, April 6 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Fort Garry United Church, 800 Point Road, Winnipeg and on Thursday, April 8 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Runnymede United Church, 432 Runnymede Road, Toronto.
