NINETTE HOULE (published on March 25, 2010)

NINETTE HOULE (nee LAFERRIERE) Suddenly but very peacefully, on March 22, 2010 at the age of 88, with family at her side, Ninette Houle passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital. She was predeceased by her loving husband Adelard, parents Albina and Wilfred and many brothers and sisters. She will dearly be remembered by her sisters Dora and Hermine, and children Louise (Rick) Pullen, Paul (Patti), Marie (Pierre) Barnabé, René, and David (Debra) along with her nine grandchildren Benjamin (Krista), Jenna, Brent (Kristin), Marcel, Nicole, Michael, Andrew, Carly and Ryan. She will also be missed by her sister-in-law Violet and many nieces, nephews and friends. Ninette was born in Aubigny, MB on December 30, 1921. Mom and dad met at the Unemployment Insurance office after he returned from the war. They were married on September 25, 1948 and raised their five children in Norwood. They were blessed to be able to celebrate their 60th Wedding Anniversary. As a result of living through the Depression era, mom and dad could pretty well fix, mend or repair anything. Her favourite things were gardening, bowling, and reading. She enjoyed sharing information of her family history and educating us on all the facts she read about. Homemade soup was her lifeline and would cure anything. Many fond family memories were experienced at the cabin at Plage Albert. Fun events included weekly meetings with her sisters at Eatons and The Bay, inventing new Halloween costumes and attending the Santa Claus parades. She always enjoyed traveling and get-togethers with their War Amps friends. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the St. Boniface Hospital staff (6th floor) for their excellent care and compassion. A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 26 at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons Street with a reception to follow. A private family burial will take place at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or War Amps (Champs) Program, 1 Maybrook Drive, Scarborough, ON M1V 5K9. Ninette's crystal blue sparkling eyes will shine on forever. DESJARDINS 233-4949 1-888-233-4949
