ALICE LECLERC (published on March 31, 2010)

ALICE LECLERC September 1, 1921 - March 28, 2010 It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Alice Marie Leclerc (nee Boris), our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend on March 28, 2010 at Victoria Hospital. She is now joined in Heaven with her husband, Joe and her daughter-in-law, Linda. Alice was born at home on September 1, 1921 in Richland, MB and moved with her family to Saskatchewan as a young child. During the late 1930s her family returned to Manitoba where she met, courted and married Joseph (Joe) Leclerc in Marquette, MB on September 25, 1940. He became her companion for 53 years. Together they raised seven children. They were blessed with 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Alice was a loving, caring mother and wife, whose goal in life was to be an honest and sincere person. Alice lived on Portage Avenue with Norm and Ron while Joe was off to war overseas for four years. With Aurel and Jeannette born soon after his return, the family moved to Stead, MB where along came Giselle and Leonard. A few years later they packed up and moved to Beausejour where Dennis was born. Alice was always very busy raising her family, baking, cooking and gardening. No one ever left her table hungry. Over the years she worked as a cook at the Gateway, Sheri-Anne and Beausejour Hotel. She also worked for many years as a cleaning lady at the Beausejour R.C.M.P. Detachment. She was loved by everyone she met. After Alice and Joe retired in 1982, they were well known for their homemade perogies and attending local bingos. Joe passed away on March 22, 1993 at the age of 75. Alice continued to live in the family home on Fifth Street until 2003. Alice moved to Winnipeg where she lived on Grant Avenue next door to her sister Evelyn for one year until she moved into Catherine Place, which she enjoyed until 2008. Alice made many new friends in Winnipeg however still kept in touch with her friends in Beausejour. Alice was hospitalized for six months after a fall on May 30, 2008 and after spending one and one half years at Misericordia Health Centre she became a permanent resident at Misericordia Place on March 1, 2010. Alice was predeceased by her husband Joe, her parents, Clara Hadaller and Louis Boris, her brothers, Orval and Albert Boris and her sister Lillian Galenzoski. Alice's memory will be lovingly cherished by her children, Norm (Jan), Ron (Gen), Aurel, Jeannette (Don Resler), Giselle (Vince Merke), Leonard (Janet) and Dennis (Johanna); her grandchildren, Gerry (Jennifer), Angela (Steve), Mark (Heather), Michael (Andi), Tracey (Rob), Sheri, Cindy, Keith (Michelle), Ryan (Brooke), Robin, Jacqueline and Kayla; her great-grandchildren, Richard, Brandy, Ashley, Cody, Dillion, Nathan, Allison, Scarlett, Chloe, Melissa, Cassandra, Madison, Savanaugh, Caurel, Colton, Camryn, Riley, Amelia and Keelah; her great-great-grandchildren, Faith and Pheonix; her sister Evelyn Dumas and many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral Liturgy will take place at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Beausejour on April 1 at 2:00 p.m. with viewing to take place at 1:00 p.m., Rev. Fr. Owen Steeves presiding. Interment will follow at the St. Mary Parish Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Donations may be made in Alice's memory to the Beausejour Hospital TV Fund. You only have one mother, loving, kind and true. No other person in all the world will be so true to you. For all her loving kindness, she asks nothing in return. If all the world deserted us, to our mother we could turn. For those of you who have a mother, give her a hug and treasure her with care, for the heartache is unbearable when she is no longer there. Rest well Dear Mom, You've earned it. You will be deeply missed, loved always and never forgotten. SOBERING FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM, Beausejour 268-3510 or MB toll free 1-877-776-2220
