JESSIE BRIDGEFORD (published on April 08, 2010)

JESSIE BRIDGEFORD (nee Smith) Peacefully on April 5, 2010 Jessie passed away after a lengthy respite at Park Manor Nursing Home at the age of 97. Jessie was born in St. James, Manitoba on December 10, 1912 and resided there until 1988 when she moved to Gable Arms on Henderson Highway. She attended Brooklands School and grew up helping keep the family dairy farm going. She started her work life at the Children's Home on Academy at 16 years and later for Robinson Little until her retirement in 1977. The family was always number one; especially grandsons Glen and Todd. In retirement Jessie and Jim enjoyed bowling, a memorable trip to Jim's birthplace in Scotland, the Maritimes, west coast and northern states. Jessie will be lovingly remembered by her son Jim (Lynn), grandsons Glen (Colette) and Todd, great-grandchildren Dylan, Daniel and Shannon, sister Kathie, sister-in-law Violet (Bill) and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 43 years Jim, her parents, her brothers and sisters Edward, George, Thomas (Evelyn), William (Angie), Gertrude (Fred), Mary, Edith (Paul), Glady, Harry, Ernie (Gladys), brother-in-laws Fred, John (Mary), and sister-in-law Marge (Lloyd). We would like to thank Park Manor staff for their kindness and great care. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on April 10, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in the Green Acres Funeral Chapel, 1 Green Acres Lane. Private interment at Brookside Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. One of Mom's clippings: God hath not promised Skies always blue, Flower-strewn pathways All our lives through; God hath not promised Sun without rain, Joy without sorrow Peace without pain. But God hath promised Strength for the day, Rest for the labour, Light for the way. Grace for the trials, Help from above, Unfailing sympathy Undying love.
