LYDIA SCHWARZENAU (published on April 10, 2010)

LYDIA SCHWARZENAU (nee LEHN) With sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend on April 6, 2010 at the age of 91. Lydia was predeceased by her husband Konstantin, her mother Helena, her father Franz, stepmother Anna, and her brothers Victor, Kornelius, Alexander, Franz, Wilhelm, and Edward. She will be lovingly remembered as the soft spoken, kind, intelligent and generous woman she was, by her son Walter (Uta) Schwarzenau, and her daughter Eleonore (Cornelius) Klassen; grandchildren Cara (Kristian) Vicei, Christine (Greg) Bergeron, Kevin (Kim) Klassen, Ken (Lisa) Klassen and her great-grandchildren Emma Vicei, Sasha Vicei, Ben Klassen, Sarah Klassen and Adalyn Bergeron along with many other family and friends. Lydia was born in Crimea in the village of Spat on October 4, 1918. She worked as a school teacher for many years in the Ukraine and was married in 1938 to Konstantin. In 1948 together with her stepmother she and her family emigrated to Canada to begin a new life. She worked as a Nursing Assistant for many years and then as a housekeeper until her retirement. Oma was a giver, she gave freely and generously of her time, her talents and her love. She was an amazing cook and baker and her memory will live on in our hearts forever. A celebration of Lydia's life will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2010, 10:00 a.m. at Klassen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers a donation to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
