ANNE KRYSTIK (published on April 10, 2010)

ANNE KRYSTIK Peacefully on April 6, 2010, after a short illness, Anne Krystik 82 years, widow of Peter, passed away at the Health Sciences Centre. Born in Fraserwood, MB, Mom spent her early years on the family farm before moving to Winnipeg. To support herself, Mom took work as a short order cook, beginning what was to become a life time passion. Many years were spent preparing food for curlers at the Victoria Curling Club and many more years pleasing residents at the Fred Douglas Lodge. After retirement at the age of 71, Mom continued at the Lodge working two days a week, this time volunteering her services. Mom loved family functions and the opportunity to prepare her special dishes for those she loved so dearly. Of course at the conclusion of these events, everyone returned home with an assortment of Mom's specialties including but not limited to cabbage rolls, perogies and borscht. Mom also had a lifetime love of sports, especially those that her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren participated in. Mom was also a Winnipeg Blue Bomber season ticket holder for a number of years and was an ardent supporter of the Winnipeg Goldeyes as well. Predeceased by her husband Peter in November 1985 and son Larry in September of 1971, Mom is survived by daughters Elaine (Cliff) and Debbie, son Leonard (Cheryl), grandchildren Lori (Craig), Bob (Jen), Kelly (Ryan) and Tyler and great-grandchildren Lindsay, Luke, Cole, Taylor, Katie, Kai and Vayda. Mom is also survived by her brother Stan (Marion), sister Rose, numerous nieces, nephews and her very special friends, Marlene and Kristina. Our thanks to the Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic Service and to the staff at the Health Sciences Centre. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street with interment to follow in the Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. If friends so desire donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald Street, or to a charity of your choice. Nanny we love you - Rest in peace Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111
