ADA HOLTMAN (published on April 10, 2010)



ADA HOLTMAN (nee LUSTY) 1920 - 2010 Ada Holtman passed away peacefully on April 9, 2010 at West Park Manor in Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her husband Ted, sister Kathleen Trottier, brother Walt Lusty, grandson Michael Holtman and dear friend Joe Trager. She is survived by her son Howard (Bernadette), daughters Leslye Huot and Eileen Dowse (David), eight grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jennifer and Laura Rutkair, Jason Holtman (Cheryl), Amy Black, Bryan, Kathleen and John Dowse, seven great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Terry Lusty, and many nieces and nephews. Ada was born and raised in Winnipeg and attended St. Alphonsus School. After marrying Ted at the beginning of the war, they were stationed in Edmonton and Montreal, and returned to Winnipeg in 1945 to raise their family in St. Vital. Ada worked at the Eaton's mail order for a short time, and then was employed in the position she most enjoyed, receptionist for Dr. D Peterkin. Ada was very active in her church, Christ the King, and was a lifetime member of the Catholic Women's League. She was a warm and sociable individual and particularly enjoyed the time she spent with her friends in the neighbourhood bridge club. Ada loved her cottage at Sandy Bay. Friends and family remember many wonderful times with her at The Bay'. A Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 14 at Christ the King Church, 847 Saint Mary's Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may made in Ada's memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. The family would like to thank the staff of West Park Manor for the exceptional care, respect and dignity they provided to our Mother during her stay.
