BERNICE LILLIAN ARNASON (published on April 14, 2010)

BERNICE LILLIAN ARNASON December 5, 1925 - April 10, 2010 With sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Bernice Arnason, our beloved sister, aunt, and great-aunt on April 10, 2010 at the Gimli Betel Home at the age of 84 years. Bernice's memory will live on in her family of many nieces and nephews; brother Wilfred (Donna-Mae); special brotherin-law Albert Markusson, and sisters-in-law Jona, Marge, and Lorraine. Bernice was predeceased by both parents: Gudjon and Petrina Arnason; sisters and brother-in-law Margaret Markusson and Laura Holm (Julius); brothers and sisters-in-law Baldwin (Runa), Joe (Clarice), Valdimar, Ted, Frank (Marie), and Charles. Bernice enjoyed bowling, shuffleboard, and especially bingo. She was a true Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Bomber fan. Bernice was the matriarch of the family and a devoted Auntie to numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews that meant the world to her. She took pride and joy in all their accomplishments. She loved being able to share in many family events. Bernice was just a phone call away and would remind all of us when a special occasion was soon approaching and that we needed to make plans. Bernice was a friendly, generous, and loyal person. She had a heart of gold and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A special thank-you goes out to all the staff at the Gimli Betel Home who were also a part of Bernice's extended family. Thank-you to Dr. R. C. Patel for his kind and compassionate care. A celebration of Bernice's life will be held at the Gimli Lutheran Church on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor David Lowe officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in the Gimli Community Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry Markusson, Keith Hayden, Darcy Erlendson, Aaron Thompson, James Dunlop, and Terry Dunlop. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gimli Betel or Solskin Home c/o Heima Er Best Inc. Dear Auntie Bernice: You were a ray of sunshine That was brought into our lives You showed us that you cared And that we all were loved GODA NOTT ELSKAN We will always love and miss you.
