JAMES KING (published on April 15, 2010)

JAMES KING Surrounded by his family, James King burst into heaven at 5:12 p.m. on Sunday, April 11, 2010 - finally free - with no more pain. Jim leaves behind, his loving wife of 61 years, Dell; his children, Robyn (Jerry) Downer, Gayle (Blair) Scott, Kevin (Heather) King, Jo-Anne (Warren) Slack, Judy (Todd) Peterson and Dean King, as well as 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Douglas King in 1953. Jim was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on January 11, 1925. He worked at Eaton's there for 15 years. That is where he met his wife. They were married in 1948 and moved to Victoria in 1962. He worked at St. Joseph / Victoria General Hospital from 1963 to 1985. He also painted houses to supplement his income so that Dell could stay home with their six children. Jim lived for his family and was a loving father, grandfather and friend. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. His family would like to thank the staff at Victoria Hospice, Richmond Pavilion at the Royal Jubilee Hospital for their kindness to Jim during his brief stay. A memorial service will be held at Glad Tidings Church in Victoria on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Victoria Hospice, 1510 Fort Street, Victoria, BC V8S 5J2. Condolences may be offered to the family at McCall's of Victoria, BC (1-800-870-4210)
