DOROTHY LEGIN (nee MARYKUCA) June 9, 1910 - April 10, 2010 Dorothy Legin died peacefully on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Holy Family Home, Winnipeg, MB. She was the fifth of 10 children born to Konstantine and Donia (Torbiak) Marykuca in the Village of Dehowa, Ivano-Frankivs'ke, Ukraine. The family immigrated to Canada in 1913 and settled in Poplarfield, MB and, in 1920, moved to Fisher Branch, MB. In 1928, the family settled in the East Kildonan area in Winnipeg. She married Andrew Legin in 1936 and they shared 70 happy years together until his death in 2006. She was predeceased by her parents, siblings Stefan, Maryna, Katherine, Peter (in infancy), Andrew, Peter, Nick, Michael and George, and son-in-law Roman Kostyshyn. Dorothy is survived by daughters Olive Kostyshyn, Yvonne Mudlo (Walter), and Nadia Carrigan (Jim); grandchildren Vera Nicholson (John), Lydia Fernandes (Americo), Bill Kostyshyn (Toronto, ON), Donna Lagace (Larry), Paul Volk (Karen), Donald Volk, and Jennifer (Carrigan) Clayton (Calgary, AB). She is also survived by great-grandchildren: Emily and Roman Nicholson; Adam and Daniel Fernandes; Philip, Marc, and Renee Lagace; Nathan and Mathew Volk; Nora Clayton and many nieces and nephews. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 17, at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Munroe Ave. at Watt St. with Fr. M. Kwiatkowski officiating, followed by private interment at All Saints Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of Holy Family Home, especially St. Mary's ward for their care and devotion. We are also grateful for the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate and Most Rev. Metropolitan Emeritus M. Bzdel C.S.S.R. for their comfort, prayers, and blessings. Flowers gratefully declined.
