ALLISTER ROBERT MCRUER (published on April 17, 2010)

ALLISTER ROBERT MCRUER In loving memory of Robert McRuer who ran into the embrace of His loving heavenly Father on April 13, 2010 at the age of 86. He was born at St. Boniface General Hospital on September 26, 1923, and we are grateful for the care he received there in his final illness. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Enid McRuer, his children, Karen and Mike Mason and Grace and Ed Van Dyck, and his grandchildren, Heather Mason, Scott Van Dyck, and Allison Van Dyck. His memory is also cherished by his sisters, Reta McRuer, Marion McRuer, and Jean Titcombe. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert Arthur McRuer and Ida Grace McRuer. Bob graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Manitoba in 1947 and married Enid in 1949. They worked at Mukinge Mission Hospital in Zambia from 1953-1965. They moved to Morden, Manitoba in 1966 where he was the Director of Pharmacy for Morden and Winkler Hospitals. His long-term vision for a shared medical facility came to fruition as the Boundary Trails Hospital. He lived a life of love and service and always took a deep interest in others. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Faith's Orphan Fund (www.fofcanada.com) or Samaritan's Purse (www.samaritanspurse.ca) for wells for Africa. Providing clean, safe water was one of Bob's great priorities when they lived in Zambia. A celebration of Bob's life will be held on April 24, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., Winnipeg. Viewing from 9:30 10:00 a.m. GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 982-7550
