RONALD WILLIAM MCKECHNIE (published on April 17, 2010)

RONALD WILLIAM MCKECHNIE August 21, 1926 - March 27, 2010 Peacefully on the afternoon of March 27, 2010, Ron passed away at Oakview Place at the age of 83 years. He has gone to join his wife Val, who predeceased him in November of 2002. Remaining to forever cherish Ron's memory are his daughters Lindsey and Tannis (Ray); grandchildren Lisa (Kensley), Christopher; Micheal, Scott, and Jackie; great-grandson Mason; brothers Neil (Fran), Wally (Wendy); sister Dorothy; and many relatives and friends. Ron retired from Molson's after 30 years service where he made many friends. Dad was a loving father and husband who took care of his family at all times. He will always be loved and remembered for his humour, honesty, integrity and joke telling. As we remember his sharp wit, storytelling, and his way with words he will continue to put a smile on our faces. As a ladies' man, Dad had many female friends who would indulge him by flirting back. Thank you to Elvira at CancerCare, Manitoba; Ginger at Westwood Safeway; Barb at Victoria Arms; and the female gardeners in the English Gardens. In compliance with Ron's wishes, no formal service will be held. Please join the family in celebrating his life on Saturday, April 24, 2010, between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. at 227 Moorgate Street. The family wishes to send out a special thank you to Dr. Paul Kerr at CancerCare, Manitoba for his exceptional care for our dad. The family also extends gratitude to the staff that took care of our Dad at Sturgeon Creek II; Oakview Place and also Deer Lodge Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ron's memory may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. His scooter may be retired and packed away, but his spirit will motor through Leo Mol Sculpture Garden forever. You are not gone nor will you ever be. You have just moved on to a stronger, longer life. Love you forever, miss you for always.
