HERBERT STEPHEN CLAGUE It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Herbert (Herb) Stephen Clague on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at the St. Boniface Hospital with family by his side at the age of 85 years. Herb is predeceased by his daughter Diane, sister Grace, brothers: Stan, Bill, Doug and by his best friend Dino. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Irene (nee Cnockaert); sons: Terry (Karen) and Darrell (Kathy); grandchildren: Jason, Garrett (Elaine), Kelly (Jeremy), Lindsay (Raymond), and Jaime (Pam); great-grandchildren: Cameron, Wynter, Hayden, Makenna, and River, as well as one brother Eddie. Herb was born on August 23, 1924, in St. Boniface to Stephen and Alma (nee Trimble) Clague. He married Irene on July 27, 1946 and they raised their family in St. Boniface. He joined the Royal Canadian Army Service Corp in the Second World War and spent three and a half years abroad. He was a proud member of the Norwood St. Boniface Legion Branch 43 where he also worked for many years. A carpenter by trade he was a master stuccoer and built many homes in Winnipeg while working for J. Pura and Sons. Family activities included spending summer weekends at the Whiteshell and annual trips to Calgary where his son Terry and family live. He loved sports, especially hockey and baseball, animals and was best friends to all the family dogs and cats. Herb was always willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends and neighbours. Special thanks to longtime neighbour and friend Mike Begley, to Germaine, Dad's favourite nurse and to the rest of the health care aides who assisted the family during this difficult time. Also thanks to the family physician Dr. P. G. Mehta for years of care and recent house calls, the Palliative Care staff at both Riverview Health Centre and St. Boniface Hospital. In keeping with Herb's wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating his life will take place on Monday, April 26 at 2:00 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald St. Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Manitoba Branch, Unit 1 - 452 Dovercourt Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3Y 1G4.
