PETER COROBOW (published on April 24, 2010)

PETER COROBOW It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Corobow, on Thursday, April 1, 2010 in Montreal, Quebec at the age of 87. Peter was the beloved husband of Selma, father and father-in-law of Gail, Irwin and Rosalie, and cherished grandfather of Jonathan, Arielle, and Levy. He is also survived by his sister Merle, of Montreal, and many nieces and nephews. He lived his whole life in Montreal. Upon graduation from Baron Byng High School, where he developed many lifelong friendships, he proudly served with the Canadian Navy in the Second World War. When he returned to Montreal after the War he studied at McGill University where he graduated in Mechanical Engineering. He had a long and successful career in the petroleum industry. In addition to his professional career, he enjoyed numerous pursuits including gardening, fishing, and cross country skiing, in Montreal, at the family cottage in St. Margeurite, and at the condo in Fort Lauderdale. He passed those interests onto his children and grandchildren. After retirement, and while his health permitted, he devoted himself to his grandchildren and to his volunteer work with the Cummings Jewish Seniors Centre in Montreal. He is lovingly remembered by his family and friends. Contributions in his honour may be made to the Bnai Brith Camp (BB Camp) at 123 Doncaster Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3N 2B2.
