JOSEPH YUREJCHUK (published on April 24, 2010)

JOSEPH YUREJCHUK 1918 - 2010 With family at his side, it is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather Joseph Yurejchuk on April 10, 2010, 15 days shy of his 92nd birthday. Joe was born and raised in Gimli, Manitoba. As a teenager he and his brothers loved to play the violin and accordion for the local dances. An army veteran of the Second World War, Dad was stationed overseas and with the Princess Pat's in Victoria, BC. After the war Joe returned to Winnipeg where he met and married his wife Anna in 1947. They resided briefly in Vancouver and Toronto before settling in Winnipeg to raise their family. Dad began his livelihood in the fur business and ultimately retired from a long, successful real estate career. A very loving family man, hard worker and loyal friend, he would always say he didn't need anything but would give you the shirt off his back. He dearly loved his children and was always there for them. A doting grandfather who visited often, he will be greatly missed by a family who thought the world of him. Dad loved to vacation in Hawaii and visit his son in Ohio. He enjoyed puttering in the yard and at the cabin, curling and dancing. He is survived by his son Terrence (Elaine), daughter Maureen (Bruce Wilson), grand-daughters Breanne Ainsley (Brad Gerrard), Laura (Ryan McCrindle) his miracles, great-grandchildren Rylee and Masen Gerrard, numerous nieces, nephews, some great and great-great. He was predeceased by his loving wife Anna in 1993, his parents Michael and Maria and all siblings. A celebration of his life will take place on Friday, April 30, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main Street. The family extends special thanks to the 3rd floor nursing staff at Kildonan Personal Care Centre for their compassionate care of our Dad. If so desired, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. You are deeply loved and will forever be missed. KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193
