ESTHER RUTH YOUNG  (published on May 28, 2010)

ESTHER RUTH YOUNG (PAUL) Suddenly on May 24, 2010, Esther passed away at her home in Winnipeg, MB. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Evelyn (Frank) Ramage and Patricia Beech; her grandchildren, Scott Legary, Andrew Ramage, Valerie (Devin) Beauliua, Darcy (Nancy) Beech, Tanya (Daryl) Perkin, and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Howard Paul and a sister-in-law, Gerd Paul. Esther was born in Grande Pointe on April 5, 1923 and at age 17 she went out to the country on her first teaching job. While teaching in the Cypress River area, she met Milton and they were married in 1945 where they lived with their family until 1962. They then moved to Winnipeg where Esther continued her teaching career at Dieppe School in Charleswood. She cared about her students and gave them every opportunity to fulfill their learning potential. After retirement she volunteered as a crossing guard and at several Seniors Centres and spent many winters in Arizona where they both kept busy with volunteer programs. She was forever a teacher no matter what she was involved in. She will be dearly missed by her family and her wonderful neighbours. Esther was predeceased by her father and mother, Percival and Esther Paul; her husband of 64 years, Milton Young; brother Leonard Paul; sister Mary Plantje and granddaughter Nicola. Funeral services will be held in the Cypress River United Church on May 29, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Phyllis Mulligan officiating. Interment to follow in the Glencoe Cemetery. Friends that so desire, memorial donations can be made in Esther's memory to the Salvation Army or to a charity of choice. On line condolences can be made to Jamieson's Funeral Services, Willmor Chapel, Glenboro in care of arrangements. 1-204-827-2480.
