TONY MAKOSKI (published on June 02, 2010)

TONY MAKOSKI February 5, 1921 - May 30, 2010 Sadly on Sunday, May 30, 2010 with his sons by his side, Tony passed away peacefully at the age of 89. Left to cherish his memory are his two sons: Jim, his wife Lisa, Harvey and his wife Bobbie; grandchildren: Kelly (Brad), Jennifer (Eric); great-grandchildren: Hayden, Gabriella and Callie. He is also survived by his brothers: Louie (Olga), Albert; sisters: Alice and Grace (Paul) as well as many nieces and nephews. Tony was predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years, Steffie, and his brothers: Joe and Lawrence. Tony dedicated over 38 years working for C.N. Rail as a telegrapher and later as an Operator. During his working career because of his love for cars, he also owned and operated a popular carburetor shop in Winnipeg. He also spent a lot of time taking his family on road trips to the beach as well as trips to the U.S. After his retirement, Tony enjoyed working on his hobby farm, his passion for farming and gardening kept him very busy. His knowledge of rural property led him to establish his own real estate business. Through this business he met and worked with many people who later became long time friends. Tony was sometimes perceived as a rough, gruff kind of guy, but he was more of a diamond in the rough. He will always be remembered as someone that could be counted on for support. For many years Tony faithfully served with the Fort Garry Manitoba Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. His chief focus as one of Jehovah's Witness was sharing with others the good news about Jehovah's Kingdom and the Bible's promise of eternal life on a paradise earth. His faith in the resurrection promise You will call and I myself will answer you , Job 14:14, 15 gave him comfort. He shared this hope with all he met. The family extends their appreciation for the care given by Dr. Craig Hildahl and Dr. John Rabson and to the Medical Staff of Ward 5A - St. Boniface Hospital, especially Nurses Janet and Princess. A visitation will be held on Friday, June 4 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. A family interment will take place on June 5.
