ROMULO GOLLA (published on June 02, 2010)



ROMULO GOLLA After a long, hard fought battle with cancer, Romulo Golla, aged 75, passed away peacefully on the morning of May 30, 2010 at St. Boniface Hospital in the presence of his family and friends, and is now in the loving arms of God. He was born in the Philippines on May 24, 1935, and he immigrated to Canada in 2000, spending the rest of his life in Winnipeg with his daughter Susan and her family. Romulo was an adventurous, outdoor person who enjoyed walking or biking outside with his wife. He was also an avid fisher, and he spent much of his ten years in Canada fishing with family and friends. Romulo is survived by his wife Valeria, his sister Dely, his son Gerry, his daughters Neneth, Melda, Susan, and Perla, and their respective families. A kind and loving husband, father, and grandfather, Romulo will missed dearly. He was a fighter, and he fought valiantly to the very end. Rest in peace; your kindness will be cherished, your memories will be treasured, and your courage in the face of death will never be forgotten. Lamay/Viewing will be held at the Mosaic Funeral Chapel, 1839 Inkster Blvd. on Saturday, June 5 and Sunday, June 6, 2010. Lamay commences at 6:00 p.m. and concludes at the request of the family by 12:00 Midnight both evenings. Vigil Prayers will be held on Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m. with Monsignor Enrique Samson Jr. presiding. Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 748 Keewatin St., Monsignor Enrique Samson Jr. celebrant. Interment of cremated remains will take place in the Philippines at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Boniface General Hospital and the Palliative Care Ward.
