KENNETH HARRIOTT (published on June 08, 2010)

KENNETH HARRIOTT April 7, 1944 - June 5, 2010 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Ken Harriott with his family at his side. Ken is survived by his wife Susan, daughter Angela (Kevin) Poetker, son Tim (Kenora), granddaughters Laura and Payten, mother Mae, sister Cheryl (Bill) Wright, sister-in-law Diane (Garry) Paulson, brother-in-law RD (Debbie) MacLean and many nieces and nephews. Ken was predeceased by his father Tom Harriott, his mother and father-in-law Marion and Allan MacLean. Ken started his career in accounting with Harriott Assoc. Then his entrepreneurial spirit took over and he moved to Medicine Hat AB and bought a Bee Clean Franchise. After selling the franchise he moved back to Winnipeg and bought The Bagel House on Academy Rd. Ken loved a challenge and finished his career as an auditor for Revenue Canada. Ken was a great son, husband, father, grandfather and friend. As a friend Ken would go out of his way to help you any way he could. Ken loved his time at Gull Lake and Winnipeg Beach. He enjoyed traveling, from camping with the kids, sitting by the pool in Palm Springs, to the beaches in Waikiki and walking the strip in Las Vegas. Two of his favourite trips were his pilgrimage to Israel and Jordan and the Panama Canal cruise. Ken had many hobbies from radio scanners, a gun collection and his computer. Ken cherished his time with his family and loved getting together for dinners especially prime rib and yorkshire pudding. We will miss his great smile, positive attitude and unconditional love. Funeral service will be held on Thursday June 10, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in Thomson Funeral Home with interment to follow on Friday June 11, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Winnipeg Beach Cemetery. We wish to thank Ken Trunbull, Jim Slater and Marcia Basrrett for being there for Ken spiritually at the HSC. Thank you to the staff at HSC on the 4th floor and MICU. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ken's memory to the Heart Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L-0K6.
