NELIA OLAES (published on June 08, 2010)



NELIA OLAES Peacefully, on June 1, 2010, surrounded by her loving family, Nelia Olaes, beloved wife of Gaudioso Olaes, passed away at the age of 60 years. Nelia was born February 25, 1950, in Malagasang 1st, Imus, Cavite, Philippines. At the age of 22, a young, single, adventurous Nelia was recruited by an overseas employer to immigrate to Winnipeg, Canada. She was the first from Malagasang to come to Winnipeg and with Nelia's help many family members followed, including her husband Gaudioso in 1976. She was predeceased by her father Julio, mother Rosario, niece Jennifer, father-in-law Tiofilo, brother-in-law Mario and nephew Christian. She is survived by her large family, including her husband of 34 years, Gaudioso; her three sons, Jason (Rezie), Derick (April), Mark (Kim); her three grandchildren, Jenna, Janelle and Isabelle. Her siblings, Marcial (Dolores) and their children, Christine, Shellane and Jasper, Liberty (Miguel) and their children, Tim and Maribelle, Merced (Terry), her siblings in the Philippines, Crispin (Norma) their child Michelle, Leony (Bert) their children, Lisa, Arbin, Rhea, Arlene, Glen and Waldy. The families of her brothers and sister-in-laws, Willie and Celia Olaes, Godofredo and Mena Olaes, Jesus Olaes, Alice Olaes, Danny and Elizabeth Reyes, Cesar and Mayette Reyes, Peter and Eder Domontay, Glen and Melinda Rayos, Joey and Myla Ordonez and mother-in-law Felipa Olaes. Nelia worked at True Service Canada (formerly Cotter Canada) for 24 years. She was a very warm and friendly person who lived a simple and happy life. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, loving wife and caring friend to all. We were all blessed to have known her. She will be forever remembered by the many people whose lives she touched. Lamay will be held on Thursday and Friday, June 10 and 11, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight at Glen Eden Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, interment and reception to follow. Pallbearers will be good friends: Leonardo Reyes, Ernesto Reyes, Renato Reyes, Monching Hayag, Larry Lara and Ador Ramos. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111
