TAMMY RAE SMOOK (published on June 08, 2010)

TAMMY RAE SMOOK September 3, 1975 - June 5, 2010 On Saturday, June 5, 2010, Tammy peacefully passed away at the Vita District Health Centre with her family at her side. With broken hearts and great sorrow, we had to say Goodbye to our precious daughter and sister. She will be greatly missed and we are unable to imagine life without her. Tammy was predeceased by her grandparents, Lena and Bill Jaman, Steve Smook and Aunt Janet Smook. Cherishing her memory are her parents, Larry and Elsie Smook; brother Jeff Smook; grandmother Mildred Smook, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will miss her deeply. Tammy was born September 3, 1975 in Steinbach, MB. She lived in Vita where she attended Shevchenko school. In her youth, she enjoyed figure skating and coaching the little ones at the Vita Community Arena. After graduating in 1993, Tammy was employed by the P.C. Caucus at the Manitoba Legislature Building. She enthusiastically embraced the subtle processes that took place within government. Tammy worked for Mr. Downey, Minister of Trade, where she strived to learn the tools of the political arena. She loved the challenge and excitement of politics. A major decision in Tammy's life was to return to school to study and successfully graduate as a Doctor of Homeopathic Medicine. She truly loved this profession. Her political interests called once again. Tammy ran for nomination for leadership of the Emerson P.C. constituency. She worked endlessly campaigning. She marveled at all the wonderful people she got to meet. She was proud to be the first woman to run in this constituency. Three years ago, Tammy developed Diabetes and a brain tumor which made her life very challenging. Even with these hardships, Tammy kept trying her best to keep busy and live independently. She suffered with great pain but was determined to go on. Many people admired her for her perseverance and called her their hero. Tammy was a very kind and generous person. Her heart and soul was filled with thoughts of helping others. She loved her family and friends always wishing to be in contact with them. Tammy truly believed that families are tied together with heart strings. Tammy's family included her dog Maya, who brought her much joy. Tammy, you are at peace now, no more pain or struggles. She is free flying with the Angels. We are sure she is an angel watching over all of us now. Viewing will be held at the Vita Funeral Chapel in Vita, MB on Friday, June 11 at 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Prayers will follow at 7:30 p.m. at Vita Hall.
