YVETTE MCGUIRK (published on June 08, 2010)

YVETTE MCGUIRK (TOUPIN) January 18, 1934 June 5, 2010 Sadly on Saturday, June 5, 2010 with family by her side, Yvette peacefully passed away. She leaves to mourn her children Francis (Judy), Richard (Angie), Kathleen (Daniel), Gisele (Curt), Patrick (Lesley), her grandchildren Sean, Erin, Keldon, Hailey, Brent, Bruce, Kyle, Taeylor, Connor, Kalin and Rory, her brother George, sisters Marie, Lucille, Simone, Therese, Rita, as well as numerous relatives and friends. Yvette was born and raised in St. Boniface. She was the youngest of 12 children born to Ephrem and Antoinette Toupin. In 1955, Yvette graduated from the St. Boniface School of Nursing, which began her 42 year nursing career, during which time she worked in the operating room, labour and delivery, orthopedics and medicine. In 1958 Yvette married Terrence McGuirk and together they raised their five children on an acreage in Rosser, Manitoba. As the children grew up, and began raising their own families, the farm continued to be the host site for many a family gathering. In her retirement years she enjoyed the company of her cat Beau Minou, summers at the lake, sewing, knitting refurbishing furniture and baking; her jam-jam cookies and butter tarts were hard to beat. After the loss of her husband Terry in 2006, she moved off the farm to a 55 plus complex where she made new friends. In her new community, she naturally lent her support to those who needed a friendly ear or a ride to the store. Yvette was a kind, loving and caring person who always put her family first. She was a wonderful mother, wife, grandmother and friend. She will be deeply missed by all those who were fortunate to have known her. For her family, her passing will leave a void that will never be filled. A funeral mass celebrating Yvette's life will be held on Friday, June 11 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 748 Keewatin St. The family will hold a private interment at a later date. On behalf of Yvette's family, we would like to thank Dr. Fatoye, Dr. Houston, Dr. Johnson and the rest of the medical team at the HSC and CancerCare Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements
