ROSE H. POGGEMILLER (published on June 12, 2010)
ROSE H. POGGEMILLER Surrounded by her children and grand-children, Rose passed away at Luther Home on Wednesday, June 9, 2010. Rose was born on February 9, 1924 and grew up in Luseland, Saskatchewan. In 1943, she married Henry Poggemiller and joined him in his first Lutheran parish. Until Henry's retirement in 1980, Rose and Henry lived and served in multiple parishes from Manitoba to BC. In 1961, the family finally settled in Winnipeg. Rose lived according to her strong and quiet faith. She was active in every parish where she was often relied upon as the sole church organist. She was friendly and gracious to everyone she met, making loyal friends through the years. She was known for her good sense of humour and valued for her quiet wisdom. Rose was a dedicated home maker, focusing her energies on caring for her family. She was the anchor of the family; keeping family members close was very important to her. Her greatest joy was having everyone together at family events. She was always an involved mother and grandmother, and she was very proud of her grandchildren. Rose will be greatly missed by her children; Louise (Don), David (Cathy), Charlotte (Tony) and Dorothy and grandchildren Laura, Jennifer (Mark), Lindsay (Rob), Bennett (Lisa), Shoshannah (Kyle) and Tovah. She was predeceased by her husband Henry in 1999 and infant son Theodore. Rose lived the last years of her life in Luther Home. Many, many thanks to all the staff for all their attentive care. We know Mom received the best care possible, and we're forever grateful for their special kindness. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 15 at Sherwood Park Lutheran Church, 7 Tudor Crescent.
