MARION DYCK (published on June 17, 2010)

MARION DYCK 1921 - 2010 It is with great sadness the family wishes to announce that Marion Dyck passed away peacefully at the McCreary/Alonsa Health Centre on June 14, 2010 at the age of 88 years. She was born November 4, 1921 to John and Mary (Reimer) Dyck in Morden, MB. As a youngster, her family moved to McCreary where she resided until her early 20s when she moved to Winnipeg. Marion began her life journey in Winnipeg as a housekkeeper, and then moved onward to work in a sewing factory. All this while, she continued with her high school education and eventually went on to obtain her nursing degree. Her entire nursing career was working at the Health Science Centre until her retirement. She loved her chosen professional path and her place of work which she found challenging and fulfilling. She returned to McCreary to be near her family for support and care due to her failing health. Throughout her life, Marion was actively involved in many volunteer and creative activities. She loved photography and won many an award for her photos through her photography club as well as many competitions that she entered in Winnipeg. She loved to entertain family and friends with who she did often, and she attended every family gathering so she could visit and spread around her good cheer and well wishes. She also enjoyed playing cards, going to the theatre, collecting art, travelling, dining out and cooking. She was a very organized and efficient woman in everything she did; excellence was always an achievement for her. She designed and sewed her own clothes over the years, even designing and sewing wedding gowns for her sister and friend. She was predeceased by her parents, her twin brother John Dyck and sister-in-law Lorraine (McLauchlan) Dyck, her sister Rita Billington and brother-in-law Wes Billington, and great-nephew Justin Roy. She will be greatly missed by her sister Kathleen Dyck of McCreary, sister Millie and her husband Bob McLuckie of McCreary, nieces Coreen (Tom) Roy, Sherry Dyck; Debbie (Lawrence) Barnard, Faye Billington, nephews Garth (Marion) Dyck, Brent (Mary) Dyck, Glen (Evelyn) Billington, Jack (Birgit) Billington, Ernest (Sandra) McLuckie and Don McLuckie, as well as many great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family. Celebration of Marion's life will be held Friday, June 18, 2010 at Knox United Church, McCreary with interment at the McCreary Municipal Cemetery. If so desired, donations may be made to Central Plains Cancer Care.
