RALPH MCCULLEY (published on June 17, 2010)

RALPH MCCULLEY It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Ralph C. McCulley on June 16, 2010 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Dad died with the dignity in which he lived his life. We are very grateful for a peaceful passage. Dad was predeceased by his parents, Gertrude and Leonard McCulley, one sister Phyllis and infant great-grandson Abraham Frederick Swan. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Jo. They recently celebrated 65 years of marriage and shared an inseparable bond. He was a gentleman to the end and they enjoyed every moment together. He was a loving and nurturing father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by two daughters, Sharon and Al, Linda and Frank, and two sons, Ralph and Agatha, and Joe and Carla. Also cherishing memories are five grandsons, Greg and Kath, Dan and Monica, David and Anna, Trevor and Dawn, Michael and Rhonda, and two granddaughters, Amber and Jeff, and Kelsey and Justin. He was always happy to visit, hear stories or see pictures of his 14 great-grandchildren, Lindsay and Liam (David), Rebecca and Kyle (Trevor), Craig, Cullen, and Emma (Michael), Ben and Liam (Greg), Jaden and Ethan (Dan), Joseph (Amber), and Josiah and Victoria (Kelsey). He is also survived by one sister Francis, one cousin Barb and several nieces and nephews. Dad was born and raised in New Brunswick. He attended Rockland Drive United Baptist Church in McAdam. When he was transferred to St. Stephen, he served on the Board of Trustees of Union Street United Baptist Church in St. Stephen. He took great pride in his occupation as Superintendent of Canada Customs in St. Andrews, he was always conscientious and a gentleman. He was also a member of the school board in McAdam. Dad and Mom moved to Winnipeg in 1982. In his retirement he became a model train enthusiast, building elaborate and complicated set ups which we all enjoyed seeing. We also have many happy memories of trips to Florida. Dad was a true Disney fan and enjoyed every opportunity to go there, or watch one of his many videos of a parade. They even spent their 60th anniversary there, and were made to feel like kids again. Dad also took a very big interest in Sharon's and Al's farm, contributing to all aspects of farm living and becoming really proficient as a partner helping Al with all the different operations. He enjoyed training German Shepherd dogs and puppies. He loved the dogs and they responded accordingly. He also loved combing the countryside finding old antique tractors with Al. Dad was a Member of the Kildonan Community Church in Winnipeg until his illness kept him away. The family would like to express our deep gratitude to Dale Drobot, Clarinda, Carlita, Rosemarie, Sharon and Mercy, who made his last days on earth so very comfortable and who treated him with such gentleness, tenderness and respect. We can never thank you enough for being who you are at a time like this. You are earth angels. Also a huge debt of gratitude to Maria and Gwen for responding to our needs in such an immediate manner. At his request, cremation has taken place, and there will be no formal service at this time. There will be a celebration of his life at a later date for family members. If friends so desire, a donation may be made to the charity of their choice. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
