FLORENCE (FLO) SINGBEIL (published on June 24, 2010)

FLORENCE (FLO) SINGBEIL (nee WALKER) It is with great sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Flo, on Friday, June 18, 2010 at the age of 75. Remaining to cherish her memory are her husband of 54 years, Wally, four children, Val and Doug Collicutt, Sharon and Ron Stelmaschuk, Mark Singbeil and Janice Claridge, and Jeff Singbeil. Mom was also Granny to six grandchildren, Adam, Dan, Scott, Katie, Blake, Sarah. Flo is also survived by two sisters, Joyce Barr and Donna Slaney, and a close friend Georgette Schoofs. Flo was born in Winnipeg on April 23, 1935 to Hollis and Frances Walker and grew up in the Weston area of Winnipeg on Pacific Avenue. During her childhood she spent her summers visiting relatives in the Medora/Napinka area of Manitoba. Upon graduation from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate, she met Wally and they were married on December 10, 1955. Several moves occurred over the next ten years with each new family addition occurring in different cities; Val in Winnipeg, Sharon in Edmonton, Mark in Regina and Jeff in Winnipeg. In 1966 the family moved to Transcona and settled in. Flo enjoyed her trips with family to various locations over the years; Los Angeles, Banff and Jasper, Mt. Rushmore, British Columbia and Newfoundland; her shopping trips to Grand Forks and Fargo; and her beach days visiting family at Star Lake and Grand Beach. Mom was a quiet person who did not like anyone to fuss over her, but the 50th Anniversary party was one of her greatest joys to see all her family and friends together. Family was the most important thing to her and she always was interested in knowing about everyone's activities, whether they be sports events, band concerts, figure skating, dancing or school plays. She especially enjoyed following Scott and Blake's hockey games and cheering them on. The family would like to extend our deepest thanks to Dr. Kress and Dr. Henry and the N1S staff at Concordia Hospital for their care and compassion during this very difficult time. Also, our sincere thanks to the Emergency staff at St. Boniface Hospital. A celebration of life will be held Friday, June 25, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. with Father Michael Krochak officiating. Service to terminate at the Chapel. Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of one's choice. You will be forever in our hearts and we will miss you dearly
