GREGORY JOSEPH LEWIS (published on June 26, 2010)

GREGORY JOSEPH LEWIS With heavy hearts the family of Gregory Joseph Lewis announces his sudden passing on June 22, 2010 surrounded by family. He will never be forgotten by his devoted partner Joan Blake. Greg is also survived by his children Shannon Berikoff (Garrett) and Jarrod Lewis (Vanessa), Kylie Western (Jamie), Aimee Lewis (Jordan) and Jordan Lewis the joys of his life, grandchildren Gabriel, Evan and Olivia. Also left to mourn are his parents Theodore and Loretta Lewis, brother Ted Lewis (Valerie) and sister Valerie Langrill (David) as well as his nieces and nephews, TJ Lewis, Sherry Andrusco, Sandy Hordiyk and their families, Gord and Kim Langrill. Greg was predeceased by his grandparents Jake and Anne Skabar and Josephine and Micheal Lewis. Greg was born in Selkirk on December 16, 1955 and was a lifelong resident making numerous friends. Greg spent his youth playing football, hockey and baseball - all sports that he excelled at. Later in life Greg's passion was for fastball with the Selkirk Club Fastball team. Greg was very much looking forward to his retirement from C.N. Rail this coming winter after 32 years. He was also an avid fisherman spending his free time out on the Red Catfishing with friends and family as well as guiding tourists and locals to the catfish hotspots. Greg and Joan were looking forward to spending their retirement together travelling and out at the lake and of course spoiling his grandchildren. Greg was a loving father and was enjoying his new role as Papa to his devoted grandchildren. He was always making sure family was together for special occasions or just a good BBQ and was willing to do anything for anyone. You could always count on Greg to give you a hand. A cremation and interment has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, June 28 at 11:00 a.m. at the Notre Dame Catholic Church, 269 Jemima St., Selkirk with Father Dado Parrenas officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations many be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
