LESLIE ANNE ASHCROFT (published on June 26, 2010)

LESLIE ANNE ASHCROFT (nee GANAS) Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, it is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Leslie Anne Ashcroft on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at the Health Sciences Centre, at the age of 44 years. Remaining to forever cherish Leslie's memory is Don, her loving husband of 19 years; parents, Eleanor and Leon Ganas; brothers Dan, Chris (Jane); nephew Ethan; nieces Elliot and Amelia; grandmother Gladys Hodgkinson, as well as many in-laws, relatives and friends. Leslie was a long-time employee of Manitoba Blue Cross - in her 25 years of service she was recognized with numerous achievement awards, found fulfillment in fundraising activities for many community charities, and met many of the wonderful people she regarded as her life-long best friends. One of Leslie's great passions was gardening and she could often be found, spade in hand, tending her precious flowers. She was proud of the home she made with Don, particularly their decorating, renovations, and re-decorating. Leslie also had a love for sports and sadly we suggest the Blue Bombers have lost their #1 fan. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. John Brebeuf Roman Catholic Church, 1707 John Brebeuf Place with Rev. Msgr. Ward Jamieson, V. G., presiding. The family would like to thank all the staff of the Grace Hospital and Health Sciences Centre Intensive Care Units. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Leslie's memory to the Manitoba Chapter of the Canadian Liver Foundation, P.O. Box 1943, Winnipeg, MB R3C 3R2 or the Manitoba Branch of the Kidney Foundation of Canada, 1-452 Dovercourt Drive, Winnipeg MB R3Y 1G4.
