| MARIE DRYSTEK (nee PRADA) July 18, 1918 June 17, 2010 In the early morning hours of Thursday, June 17, 2010, our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at the Grace Hospital. She was the last member of her family (Parada) and was only one month and one day short of her 92nd birthday. Marie was predeceased by her beloved husband John on May 4, 1960; her parents, Katherine and Paul, six sisters and also six brothers. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son Randy (grandchildren, Derek and Lauren); daughters, Diane (grandchildren, Tracy with Russ and great-grandson Dylan) Carol and Heather (Dennis) (grandchildren, Kari, Kiera, Denny, Celyna, John and Vicky). Mom was born in Ledwyn, Manitoba, moved to Winnipeg and worked as a housekeeper and store clerk for Bodnars Grocery on Selkirk Avenue. After her husband passed, she raised her four children on her own. Marie was a loving mother and kind in all her ways. Mom was an avid gardener; her yard was the showcase of the neighbourhood, even winning awards from the city. She lived for her flowers, working on them nonstop from morning till night. Mom will be missed by family and friends like Lance Anderson from Vernon, BC, who loved Marie like his own mother and said she left behind Beautiful Memories. Cremation has taken place, there will be no formal service at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
