VICTORIA NEUFELD (published on June 26, 2010)

VICTORIA NEUFELD With family at her side, Victoria Neufeld passed away peacefully the afternoon of Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at the Poseidon Care Centre. Vicki was predeceased by her daughter-in-law Julie Neufeld and sister Connie Stone. She leaves to mourn, her loving, devoted husband of 63 years, Herman Neufeld. Herman and Vicki Neufeld were blessed with three children, Bob Neufeld, Douglas Neufeld, Kathy (Graeme) Boyd; five grandchildren, Derek Neufeld (Cienna Kilimnik), David, Cheryl, Diana and Andrea Boyd; and two great-grandchildren, Dominic and Chloe Kilimnik Neufeld. Vicki was born on November 21, 1925 in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. Later, she moved with her parents to Lethbridge where they farmed for several years until they moved to Winnipeg. Throughout her childhood and early adulthood, Vicki took piano lessons and became a talented musician. She graduated from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate Institute and pursued a career as a piano teacher. Vicki shared her passion for music through teaching piano lessons at Rosser School and later became the pianist at Bethel Mennonite Church. She married Herman Neufeld at Old St. Andrew's United Church on June 21, 1947. After bearing three wonderful children, she began to provide private piano lessons at her home. The family spent many summers camping at Falcon Lake Campground. Family trips to the lake later included Herman and Vicki's first grandchild Derek Neufeld. Herman, who had founded a milk hauling business in 1945, was fortunate to have Vicki assume the role of secretary at Neufeld Transfer Limited. The happy couple continued to run their business until 1990 when they began their retirement. During this time, Herman and Vicki spent many winters in Arizona and Texas where they formed many long lasting friendships. Vicki lit up any room she entered with her great sense of humour. We, the family, are forever grateful to you Mom for your love, support and the many memories you provided. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered. The family and friends of Victoria Neufeld would like to express their love and gratitude to the 2nd floor staff of the Poseidon Care Centre. Your compassion and support will be forever remembered. A memorial service will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 28, 2010 at Bethel Mennonite Church, 870 Carter Avenue with Pastor Rudy Baergen officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 4G2.
