NANCY ELIZABETH WEBB  (published on June 26, 2010)

NANCY ELIZABETH WEBB (BATHGATE) On Sunday June 6, 2010 in Richmond, BC, peacefully following a long and courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Predeceased by her parents William C. and Margaret L. Bathgate, Nancy will be sadly missed by her sister Joan Douglas (Ross), Sydney, BC, sons Doug Nanton, Winnipeg, and James Nanton (Deborah), Vancouver. Nana will also be sadly missed by her two grandchildren Alex and Kyle Nanton and their mother, Kristy Nanton, and her favourite niece, Marcia Edmond. Born August 9, 1940, in Vancouver, BC, Nancy attended Balmoral Hall and Kelvin High Schools. In her early years Nancy developed her lifelong friendships with Bev Shlecter; Joan Gill; Marilyn Ployart; Val Duke; Mickey Clark; Cynthia Slevin; Julia Whalen; Lorna Berg; and many others. Nancy was fortunate to have such good friends and the family is deeply grateful for their commitment to Nancy throughout her illness. Nancy decided later in life to become a registered nurse and spent several years on 4 North at the Children's Hospital in Winnipeg. Nancy was always delighted to take her sons on rounds when they would visit her on the ward late at night. Nancy retired from nursing following time at the Vancouver Children's Hospital and got back to her favorite pastimes of lying in the sun and reading. She visited Winnipeg often to see her grandkids. Family wishes to thank the staff at Minoru Extended Care and Dr. Peter Quelch for their years of care of Nancy. A special thank you to Patricia Cruz and Merlin for their care and love of Nancy for the past many years. A Winnipeg memorial service is planned for Thursday, July 8 at 2:30 p.m., Rae Jerry's, 1405 Portage Ave. In Nancy's memory, charitable donations accepted by Cat's Cradle Animal Rescue, 775 Dogwood Rd. North Saanich, BC V8L 5H5.
