MICHAEL GREEN Peacefully at Betel Home on June 19, 2010, with his family by his side, Michael Green, age 78, passed away. He will always be remembered by his loving wife of 34 years Lovina. Mike is also survived by his brother Ron (Barb); sons Jim (Laurie) and Brad (Sue); his stepsons, Rob (Carolyn) and Doug (Cathy) Cox; step daughter-in-law Melinda McPhail and step son-in-law Randy (Ramone) Urbanski and his grandchildren, Ryan and Mitch, Aaron and Leah, Angie (Bob) and Tamara (Adam), Robbie and Carla (Adam), Christina and Cassidy, Chris and Erin (Scott), and great-grandchildren, Brolin, Jordyn and Olivia, Kaitlin and Alyssa, Spencer and Kamryn and Ella and Nola; niece Sue (Carl) and nephews, David (Carol), Geoffrey and Kenneth. Mike was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Hilda, brother Ken and sister-in-law Alma, stepdaughters Barb and Mary and stepson Dennis. Mike was born at Birkenhead, Wirral, Cheshire, (now Merseyside, England) on January 13, 1932. At the age of 18, Mike joined the Merchant Marines. After service he moved to Canada in May of 1955. Once in Selkirk, Mike worked for Abex where he worked for over 25 years. After retiring, Mike worked part time with the R.C.M.P. where he made many friends. Mike and Lovina enjoyed the many trips that they took to various destinations. They enjoyed times with family especially with the grandchildren. Mike was an avid reader and spent many hours reading to his grandchildren. Mike was an active member of the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans Unit #151 and the Royal Canadian Legion #42. He was an Executive member for many years at the Army and Navy. Mike was always the life of any social event he attended. He could always tell stories that would make everyone laugh. Everyone looked forward to a visit from Mike. Cremation has taken place and a service of remembrance will be held on June 30 at 2:00 p.m. at the Knox Presbyterian Church, 341 Eveline St. with Rev. Anton Bouw officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Knox Presbyterian Church, 341 Eveline Street, Selkirk, MB R1A 1N1 or a charity of your choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
