JEAN MUSHEY (published on June 26, 2010)

JEAN MUSHEY (nee KARPIAK) It is with sorrow in our hearts that we announce the passing of our Mother, Jean Mushey on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at the age of 98. Mom was surrounded by her family as she peacefully fell asleep. Mom was predeceased by her husband John, her parents Pearl and George Karpiak, and her brothers Michael, Walter, Harold and Gerald. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Gordon (Carolynn) Mushey and daughter, Linda (James) Lewington, her grandchildren, Robert (Cyndi) Kobzar and Jennifer (Tom) Doxtater all of Calgary, Timothy (Tricia Knisley) Mushey of Edmonton and Kimberlee (Trevor) Churchill of Winnipeg. She is also survived by her sister, Olive Andriashyk, brother, Manuel (Audrey) Karpiak, brother in-law, Joseph Muszy and sister-in-law, Alice Karpiak, and her beloved great-grandchildren Emma, Hannah, Zachary, Sophie, Elliot and Makenna. Among the many things that our Mother will be remembered for are the beautiful clothes and wedding dresses that she created and sewed for family and friends. Admired by many were the beautiful sweaters she knit and wore. Mom was also very proud of her roses that she nurtured with tender loving care. We can't forget her love of bingo at Sinclair Park Community Centre (CUAC) and the Polish Club - Monday and Thursday were her nights!! The family will always remember the many traditional Ukrainian dishes and baked goods that came out of her wonderful kitchen. Mom was also known for her gracefulness on the dance floor. Keep on dancing Mom! Mom has left us with a legacy of love and kindness as well as her special sense of humour. We would like to thank the staff at Bethania Personnel Care Home for their care and compassion and are thankful for the many staff who became her friends. As requested, cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service has been held. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate in memoriam donations be made to the Bethania Personnel Care Home 1045 Concordia Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2K 3S7 or to a charity of your choice.
