DIANNE GAIL CALVERT (published on July 05, 2010)

DIANNE GAIL CALVERT (nee Dickson) With family at her side, Dianne passed away in the early hours of Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Portage District General Hospital. Mom was born in Brandon, Manitoba on October 4, 1943. She was the oldest of five children born to Alex and Agnes Dickson of Carberry, Manitoba. In her younger years mom participated in sports, concerts and school activities. She was a member of the Knox-Zion Presbyterian Church Children's groups and completed the CGIT program. After graduating from high school in Carberry, Mom married Ray Calvert of Portage la Prairie on November 4, 1961. Portage became her home where together they raised their two sons Randy and Cameron. Dianne was predeceased by her father Alex (1985), sister Joan (1989) and mother Agnes (2010) and leaves behind, husband Ray, son Randy (Angela), grandchildren Christopher, Breanne and Jordan, and her son Cameron. Mom is survived by her sister Linda Shewfelt (Ralph), brother Gary Dickson (Kristjana), and sister Janice Hamm (Murray). She will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews. Mom was a very active woman and she was known to many who frequent the walking paths along Crescent Lake where you could find her walking briskly or biking the path. She also enjoyed her exercise classes at the gym where her energy and enthusiasm was an inspiration to others. Mom was an avid traveller and along with Dad, travelled to many areas of the world. They enjoyed many trips and cruises together. She enjoyed her computer and spent many hours researching her next trip down to its finest detail. She was planning a trip this September that involved a cruise to Iceland and was very excited about it. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at McKenzie United Church, 85-11th Street N.W in Portage la Prairie. A private family interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations to Dianne's memory may be made to the: Canadian Celiac Association Manitoba Chapter, 123 St. Anne's Road, Winnipeg, Manitoba R2M 2Z1 A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel 857-4021 A message can be left in the on-line guest book at www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
