METRO DUTCHAK Peacefully, with his family by his side, Metro, of Winnipeg Beach, MB passed away on July 2, 2010, at the age of 87, at the Gimli Community Hospital. He will be sadly missed by his brother Joseph and wife Helen of Sault St. Marie, sister Rose Muckosy, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Sophie and Peter, and sister Ann Eggertson. Metro was born in Skylake, MB. He worked on the family farm, and then moved to Flin Flon where he worked for the Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting Co. Later he moved to Sherridon, MB, and worked for Sherritt-Gordon Mines. He then moved back to farm until the selling out of the farm in 1964. He studied in Winnipeg to become a barber, and barbered there for nine years. After this he made Winnipeg Beach his home and barbered there until his parting. The people in the Winnipeg Beach Community were very important to him and he loved them dearly. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. J. Patel and the healthcare staff at Gimli Community Hospital for the compassion and kindness shown to Metro and family. Prayers will be said on Monday, July 5, 7:00 p.m., at Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Church in Winnipeg Beach. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, July 6, 11:00 a.m., at the church with Rev. Fr. Harry Chuckry presiding. Interment in the Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Church, 348 Hazel Ave., Winnipeg Beach, MB R0C 3G0, or CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli in care of arrangements.
