ARLENE JOYCE MCLAUGHLIN (published on July 06, 2010)

ARLENE JOYCE MCLAUGHLIN (nee POOLE) Peacefully, with her family at her side, Arlene McLaughlin passed away at the age of 74 on July 1, 2010 at Riverview Health Centre. Arlene was born in Winnipeg on August 16, 1935, and was predeceased by her husband Edward, parents Robert and Emily, brothers Lawrence, Allan, Robert and sister Allison. She is survived by her sisters Edith, Dolly, Lillian, Lorraine (Joe), and brother Ken (Judy). Arlene grew up in Elmwood and met the love of her life, Edward Grant at the age of 15. They married in 1956 and were the proud parents of Cindy (Bill), Tracy (Walter), and Darrel (Kim). She also dearly loved her grandchildren Deanna, Darcy, Keith, Corrine, Branden, Ryan, Justin, Shiane, Ray, Chris, and great-grand-children Treyden and Brody. Mom's favourite times were spent at Gull Lake with family and friends, especially Happy Hour'. She loved playing cards and trips to the casino. Over the years she also enjoyed curling, bowling, working in her garden and travelling. Mom had a passion for life and had to overcome many obstacles; she was a cat with nine lives. She had amazing strength and courage that was an inspiration to us all. She never dwelled on the past and was a trooper with a heart of gold and a great sense of humour. She will be sadly missed by her many friends and family. Thanks to HSC, Riverview and everyone for their support, compassion and visits to Mom during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to CancerCare. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave.
