MARTHA CHALUS (published on July 07, 2010)

MARTHA CHALUS Martha passed away peacefully on July 5, 2010 at the age of 100 at Holy Family Home. She and her twin sister were born on February 7, 1910 in selo Nywycy, rayon Radechiw, Lwiwska oblast, Ukraine, the youngest of nine children. Predeceased by her husband Wasyl on December 5, 1988, she leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter Mary (Mihajlo) Lepki; her grandsons, Michael (Isobel) Petryk and Roman (Andrea) Petryk; and her precious great-grandchildren Anastazia, Amilia, Lukian, Gregory and Kazimyr as well as family in Ukraine. She was a lifelong member of Christ the King Ukrainian Catholic Church which was a focal point in her life for over 50 years. She loved her church and traditions and was overjoyed when Ukraine gained its independence. Parastas will be sung at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 8 and Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, July 9 at 10:00 a.m. both at Christ the King Church, Logan Ave. at Fountain St. with Father Darren Kawiuk and Father Volodymyr Bashutskyy officiating. Interment to follow at Holy Family Cemetery. The family is grateful to Dr. T. Babick and nursing/health care staff of St. Mary's Ward for the exceptional care and dedication in making Baba's final years as comfortable as was possible. We thank the Sisters Servants for their prayers, visits and compassion which was medicine for Baba's soul .
