IRENE WILCHUK (published on July 07, 2010)

IRENE WILCHUK (nee AMBROSE) January 1, 1936 - July 2, 2010 It is with heavy hearts Terry, Lora, Judy and Brian announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grand-mother, sister and dear friend, Irene Wilchuk on July 2, 2010 at the Seven Oaks Hospital. Mom was predeceased by her husband Stanley (1966), father Harry (1991) mother Mary (2008) and son-in-law Danny (2010). Her memory will never be forgotten and forever cherished by her children - son Terry, grandchildren Jason (Laurie) and great-grandchildren, Eternity, August and Cady, Chris (Rina), Amanda (Reg) along with their mother Evelyn, daughter Lora (Bill) grandchildren Ashley (Brendan), Amber and Amy, daughter Judy and son Brian (Darcey) granddaughter Chantal along with friends Laurence Tataryn and Vicki Waskul. Mom also leaves to mourn her brothers and sister-in-laws and her sisters and brothers-in-law along with her many nieces and nephews. She leaves behind many sisters-in-law and spouses and brother-in-law along with many nieces and nephews on Dad's side of the family. Mom worked very hard while raising four young children on her own after our Dad died. She went back to school and was employed with the Department of Highways in Arborg and after 28 and a half years of service retired in 2004. Mom enjoyed aqua swimming classes, took painting classes as well as many other crafts. When Mom got bored, she would pack a suitcase (actually her entire luggage set) and - as we called her Gypsy Mom - she would take on an adventure sleeping on a comfy couch at one of our homes and when she got bored there, she was off to the next. Never make a bet on how long she was going to stay cause chances are you were gonna lose. In the last several months, Mom's health made it impossible for her to return home and live on the farm, which she missed very much. She enjoyed the peacefulness, sitting on her swing, on the deck and listening to pure silence while watching the stars shine brightly. All she wanted was to go home. She will also be missed by her faithful K-9 companions, Lady, Lassie and Coconut along with about 50 stray cats she cared for endlessly. Pallbearers will be Jason Wilchuk, Christopher Wilchuk, Chantal Wilchuk, Brendan Hallow, Chrissy Ambrose, Shawn Ambrose, Ryan Persoage, Kenneth Ambrose. Please consider all in attendance today as honourary pallbearers. Special thanks to 5th Floor, Unit 2 staff Candace, Val, Brenda, Pat and Connie. You have helped us through this very difficult week showing the utmost care, compassion and love for our Mother. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Prayer service will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 8:00 pm at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Teulon, Manitoba. Divine Liturgy will be sung at Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Rembrandt, Manitoba on Friday, July 9 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Peter Chorney officiating. We will love you forever, We will love you for always, In our hearts you will always be. Love your Children XXXXOOOO MacKenzie Funeral Home, Teulon in care of arrangements
