WILLIAM LESLIE (LES) JANZEN William Leslie (Les) Janzen passed away peacefully at Maples Personal Care Home on Tuesday, August 3, 2010. Les was predeceased by his beloved wife, Esther (nee Schroeder) in 2007, his parents, sister Margaret Wiebe, brother-in-law John Wiebe, brother-in-law John Wall, sister-in-law Hilda Epp and brother-in-law Frank Schroeder. Left to cherish his memory are his children: Vicki (Tim Dyck), Barry (Laureen Janzen), Susan, Heather (Scott Whyte), and Stuart (Shauna Caldeira); his grandchildren Avery, Graeme and Jamieson Dyck, Eric, Rebecca and Tyler (Marissa Sparrow) Janzen, Taylor and Alex Janzen. Les is also lovingly remembered by brothers Clifford (Alice), Mervyn (Doreen), sister Myrtle Wall, special friends John and Rae Harwood, Carl and Madelaine Epp, John and Luella Blatz, and many other friends and relatives. Dad was born in Plum Coulee, MB on December 14, 1927 to William P. and Anna Janzen. Over the years, Dad's work encompassed numerous interests, from owning a welding business in Plum Coulee to helping build the Hydro station in Grand Rapids, MB, installing garage doors in Winnipeg, to working for many years as a custodian with the Winnipeg School Division #1, where he completed all four levels of his Power Engineer certification. Dad was known for his integrity and humour. He demonstrated his love for his saviour Jesus Christ through longtime practical service at Christian Fellowship Chapel. He loved sports, reading, working with his hands, and especially socializing. He was known to talk to anyone he met, and made many friends through his life. In his last years in the nursing home, Dad maintained a healthy social life enjoying regular visitors. Dad was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, and will be sadly missed. Funeral services will be held at Christian Fellowship Chapel, 465 Osborne (at Brandon Ave.) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2010, with viewing 30 minutes prior to the service.
