ELIZABETH (JEANNIE) PAULSON (published on August 16, 2010)

ELIZABETH (JEANNIE) PAULSON (nee MAZUREC) November 14, 1948 August 12, 2010 With profound sadness, our family announces that heaven has received its newest and most precious angel, Jeannie Paulson. After a lengthy and brave battle with glioblastoma brain cancer, she peacefully passed away with her family at her side on August 12, 2010. Jeannie's spirit will live on in the hearts of Norm, her high school sweetheart and husband of 43 years; daughters, Debbie (Chris) Bahinski, Laurie (Ryan) Gulowaty; and her precious granddaughter Kate Bahinski. Also left to cherish her memory is her sister Linda (Danny) McAllister and nephew Colin; brother-in-law Richard Massey; mother-in-law Helen Paulson; sister-in-law Donna (Eggert) Bell and numerous extended family members. She was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Jennie Mazurec; sister Patricia Massey; and father-in-law Skuli Paulson. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Jeannie and Norm were married in 1967. They began their new life together in North Kildonan, where Jeannie chose to leave her job at the Bank of Montreal to stay home and raise their two daughters. Never one to sit idle, her volunteer position at Springfield Heights Elementary in the early 1980s quickly evolved into a full-time position where she touched the lives of many through her years of working as a paraprofessional with special needs children. Everyone who knew Jeannie recognized and valued her natural gift of forming instant friendships. She gave of herself without limits. Jeannie took great pleasure in entertaining family and friends with her wonderful meals and baking. Her beloved grand-dog Sadie especially loved her home-made dog biscuits. After retiring in 2006, Jeannie filled her extra leisure time with travelling, golf, gardening and spending time at the family cabin in Sandy Hook. She treasured her time spent with her friends, whether it was at Curves, Dauphin Countryfest, or dinners with the Crazy 8's. Her travels were many, but her real happiness in life was to be close to home surrounded by family and friends. In the last two years, Jeannie's greatest joy in life was her granddaughter Kate whom she affectionately referred to as her sunshine . Jeannie's legacy of generosity, thoughtfulness and compassion will live in our hearts forever. Our family wishes to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to everyone for their care, kindness and support throughout this difficult journey. A celebration of Jeannie's life will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. A private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, a donation in Jeannie's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or The Winnipeg Humane Society. Those who live no more, whom we loved, echo still within our thoughts, our words, our hearts. Love you forever Mom! Glen Eden Funeral Home 4477 Main Street 338-7111
