SAMUEL WILLIAM WARNER (published on August 21, 2010)

SAMUEL WILLIAM WARNER Samuel William Warner of Coquitlam, BC passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2010 in Eagle Ridge Hospital after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Bowsman, MB April 4, 1919. Sam married Bernice Gray November 1, 1941. A few months later he joined the army and was assigned to the Perth Regiment. He fought in Italy until an injury sent him home. After returning from the Second World War Sam started a successful business of Warner Construction in Dauphin, MB. In 1975 he joined Peter Leitch Construction. Sam was active in the Dauphin Volunteer Fire Brigade as well as the local square dance group. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Dauphin Game and Fish Association. Sam was happiest when hunting or fishing. Sam and Bernice spent many happy summers fishing at Lake Manitoba Narrows. Retirement in 1988 brought Sam and Bernice to Coquitlam, BC. He spent many hours in his shop making model steam engines. Sam enjoyed his casino trips and especially enjoyed WWE wrestling. Sam was a joker with a very sharp wit and always kept people laughing. His kind heart and gentle soul will be missed by all who knew him. He is predeceased by his infant son Brian, his wife of 65 years, Bernice, and grandson Jordan. Sam is survived by his sister Minnie, children Sally, Cathy (Rick), Lorayne (Dave) and Mark (Katharine), as well as numerous grandchildren and a great-grandchild. At his request there will be no service.
