EILEEN MAY RAYBOULD (published on August 21, 2010)

EILEEN MAY RAYBOULD (nee SHANNON) 1922 - 2010 Peacefully on the evening of August 17, 2010, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's, Eileen passed away at Charleswood Care Centre where she had resided for the last four years. She was predeceased by her husband Harvey on September 17, 2009. Eileen was born in Virden, Manitoba on May 25, 1922 to Elva and Simon Shannon. She and her brother, Don grew up on Sherburn Street in Winnipeg. She married the love of her life, Harvey on June 26, 1943. Harvey and Eileen raised their family in St. James. They enjoyed life in Denver for five years and then returned to live in Charleswood on Woodfield Bay and at Vasa Lund Estates. Eileen then moved on to Charleswood Care Centre. She leaves behind many good friends. Eileen was a founding member of the St. James Art Club and Winnipeg Sketch Club and a member of the Manitoba Society of Artists. Her works have won awards in jury art shows and appear in private and public art collections in almost every major city in Canada. We are all so proud of her many accomplishments. Harvey and Eileen spent many happy years at Jessica Lake with their children and grandchildren. Harvey and Eileen loved to travel and visit their son Brian in New Zealand and daughters Joan and Sharon in British Columbia. In her spare time she enjoyed working in her beautiful garden. Survived by her five children: Joan (Ron) Miller, Sheila (Gordon) Shawn, Linda (Larry) Krahn, Brian (Glenda) Raybould, and Sharon (Rene) Fontaine; grandchildren: Chris (Joanne), Jason, Lisa (Curtis) and daughter Emily; Michael (Kristen), Jody; Jesse, Sara; Carl, Thomas; Claire and Daniel. The family would like to thank the staff at Charleswood Care Centre. Their many kindnesses over the years were very much appreciated by the family. A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 26 at 2:00 p.m. at Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd. with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Alzheimer's Society of Winnipeg.
