MILDRED ANNE JONES (published on August 21, 2010)

MILDRED ANNE JONES (nee ADAMS) Sepember 16, 1924 August 16, 2010 Peacefully at Golden Links Lodge, on Monday, August 16, beloved wife of Russell G. Jones. Mildred was born in Winnipeg to Wm. John Adams and Minnie Muir, the youngest of five children. She was predeceased by her parents; her sisters, Gladys Davidson and Laura Hewitt; and her brother Laurie. She is survived by one brother Ed, of Edmonton. She worked briefly at Manitoba Blue Cross before her marriage to Russ in 1946. They were blessed with two great children, daughter Carol Guest (Gary) and son Grant (Jody); three grandchildren: Ryan Guest (Sasheen); Cory Guest (Sarah Russell); and Brin Jones; and great-grandson Tylar Guest. Mildred was active in Sweet Adelines for many years, and was a long-time member of St. Boniface Golf Club. For several years she and friend Marg Stevens volunteered at St. Amant Centre, providing song and music. Her family will forever treasure their Victoria Beach memories, including Thanks-giving dinners where creative table settings, cranberry tea and late night songs were cottage traditions. Her grandchildren cherish their special memories of their grandmother: the games she played with them, especially Spite (Ryan); a capable, loving lady who could swim in the icy May waters of Lake Winnipeg and call it refreshing (Brin); the endless supply of grapes and Einfeld Bakery dream cookies served with love on the beach (Cory). We love you Grandma. Sincere thanks to the Emergency staff at Victoria Hospital and the angels at Golden Links Lodge for their compassionate care. Cremation has taken place. A private family burial service was held Friday at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Flowers gratefully declined, in lieu of a donation to a charity of your choice in her memory. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
